A trek to KHEERGANGA.....

I want you to stay in my mind forever,
as we speak, as we dream.
I would love to capture all your smiles forever.

I would love to pull magic from my hat,
squeeze the ice into water.
just to dance on the water with you.

I would if i could....
I would reach beyond my grasp to....
not to reach up to stars..
but to end up on the moon....

Well to start with where I left; I wanted to sleepover this one, But then Sagittarius traits won't let me, I wanted to sleep the only day i get off, but no the sleep won't come easy this time. After covering places in the blog, we had two more days at our disposal and Kasol was in the plan. My friend just called some of his friends who were on a trip nearby and that is how we came to know about a trek near Barshaini.
Finally we decided to move with the kasol plan, with a slight change of camping at near Barshaini. As usual my first free advice here "Never plan your trips to the minutest of detail" The reason is obvious, you might miss out something which is far more interesting.
If you wish to reach Kasol on a bus, you need to start early from Kullu, the only direct bus is at around 0730 hrs in the morning and as usual we missed it, at around 10 we reached the bus stand, after some insights from an employee there who was too much in love with English explained in his humorous ways. We took a bus to Bhuntar and from there on we had to take another bus to Mannikaran. The seccond free advice is common
"Never try to board a private bus, only when there's no option left"
They will even cramp you for your rightful oxygen.
The ride for sure was a bumpy and a long one. To add on that the roads are always dangerous on this circuit.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.
We tell people, "I have trust issues" but i think it is relative term, we do trust in the driver without a hitch irrespective of the road we take.

Landslides are a common sight in these areas...

I climbed a mountain to lookout for you...
and i saw you there on the other side of the peak
"till the landslide brought me down"

Once we reached Barshaini, we did not waste any time there. The point where the trek starts is around a dam site by NHPC. They are constructing three consecutive dams on the river Parvati. Free advice number three
"Never carry all your stuff to barshaini" the trek bloody won't end, we did a mistake, I had a shoulder bag of around 19kgs and my friends had around 13-15kgs bags.

The below pic is a view of the starting point, even a tiresome bus journey will be gone after you sink in this view.

For me mountains are the pathway to the start and end of  natural scenery

Kheerganga is around 13,000 feet above the sea level. while from Barshaini one has to ascend around a height of 5,000 feet to the hot sulphur spring.
There are signboards all along the way to the top, it has become a very famous tourist attraction in the last few years.

Signboards are evident in Black and White..
lost cannot be in the dictionary until and unless you are too high while you start the trek.

Rest and start fresh again... Advisory is censored.. you know what not to do while you are on the trek i.e till you reach the place. :P

This so much refreshing..
the fourth advice "When you travel, it is quite common to expect comfort, please delete this thing when you start on this trek"
you have to walk for minimum 4hrs .

The Gang, next plan is on Guys!!!!
it's on open tender anyone can join :P

There's a waterfall on the way, the love of sound and power of pounding of water was alive again..

we thought we might never make it till the sunset, but then someone has said "Never measure the height of a mountain until you have reached the top. Then you will see how low it was.. sky is even farther..

Here we were, Kheerganga. i have started loving places where the network is bad.
Airtel girl would have lost all her bets here, and we would die in peace...

" Only when you're tired, you can appreciate this view"
The Best views often come after the hardest climb

Back to basics 1842hrs was the sundown time and i was ready to click it. The sunset without the sun for the first time was more beautiful.

There are no original silhouettes, we always come up with our own variation.
This one is beautiful...

Back to gen, this sulphur spring has hot water flowing for 24/7. Separate point for men and women. There's no chance you would want to miss this one.

The night was very long, somehow we managed a tent which supposedly was meant for three people but we were five. The music played in the restaurants was just amazing.
The only thing i missed clicking was the mountains in the night, it looked majestic, i just sat down and gazed through the lines of mountains, forgot about clicking a pic. Preferably walk out on moon night and just get up in the night go for a stroll around the place.

People say the mountains are calling, i would say snow is calling.
the snow makes the mountain look stunning.

Somewhere between maa's "Bacho ko chai nhi peena chaihye"
to
"Thoda sa peele, isi bahane main bhi peelungi" We all grew up..
"Chai was amazing here"

The Shiva temple at the top of the hill.
"OM NAMAH SHIVAYA"
Prayer of five elements which the universe is made up of.

"I've often said there's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse."
-Ronald Reagan

We knew it would again take 04hrs to climb down. The down trek was not that tiring and we somehow managed to go by a different route. The fourth advice "You're never lost on a mountain." Once you travel, you'll know the reason why.

We did cross a village Naktan, the holy temple of Rudrang is located here, there's an advisory not to touch the temple. The locals believe touching it will make it impure.

Construction of dams is on full swing here, we reached back to Barshaini in exact 180 minutes.

The river will find a new way....

May be the name given "Kheerganga" was because the flow rate is very high, it makes it look distinct white.

The Bus ride was really tiring. We had no choice but to take the private Bus.

Kheerganga was a beautiful experience, but somehow within i was apprehensive about it's future. The commercialization brings trash and pollution. My final advice don not throw the waste there, just pack it and dispose it later when you come down..

Technology owes Ecology an Apology....
